The Crane is found all over the world (except South America) in 15 different species. They are fairly large and grow up to an average of 1 meter, though some species grow nearly 1.5 meters tall. They are omnivorous and mostly feed on insects, fish, amphibians, and a variety of grains, plants and tree bark. Cranes construct nests in trees and lay 3 to 5 eggs. Many of the 15 species are considered endangered.
