There are approximately 12 different species of foxes found in Earth's Northern Hemisphere. The most common species is the urban or red fox, but with its big ears the Fennec fox is widely considered the cutest of the species. Wild foxes tend to live for 6 to 7 years, but some foxes have been known to be older than 13 in captivity. All fox species hunt for mice and other small mammals for food, with the Arctic fox employing the most unique hunting technique. These beautiful white foxes have been known to jump up and pound thick snow layers with their paws to quickly reach the hibernating meals underneath.
