A lamb is what we call a young sheep, born after a five month gestation period. For the first few weeks of their life, lambs rely on their mothers for most of their food. Since they are born two, sometimes three, at a time they are often bottle fed as well. Lambs are social animals and are considered flock animals, staying together with other sheep. Once older they are prized for their wool, often made into yarn and clothing.
