The quail is a small bird that generally inhabits forests and woodland areas. There are more than 15 species of quail around the world. They are solitary birds who like to spend much of their time alone or in a pair. Though it is not uncommon for them to gather in groups of up to 100 individuals and actually live within the same area of one another. A clutch of quail eggs can reach up to 12 depending on the species and have a two month growth period before they are able to mate. Quails are omnivorous but are primarily vegetarian, eating wheat, barley, flowers, fruits and seeds.
