The Rhinoceros is a large, horned mammal native to Africa and Southern Asia. There are five species of rhino found in the world, with 3 out of those 5 species considered to be critically endangered. All rhinos have very poor eyesight, but remarkable sense of smell and hearing. The rhinoceros is a herbivore, eating grasses, leaves, shoots, buds and fruits in large quantities. Rhinos can weigh up to 5000 pounds! Although rhinos are herbivores, they are known for their aggressive nature and will often charge towards oncoming predators for their own protection.
