Rib Cage

The rib cage is also known as the 'thoracic cage' because the rib bones begin at the thoracic vertebrae in the spine. Whatever you choose to call it, this set of 12 right and 12 left rib bones have the job of protecting the body's internal organs, including the lungs and heart. All ribs connect to cartilage at the front of the body known as the sternum, except the last two pairs. Rib pairs 11 and 12 do not connect to the sternum, and are known as 'floating' ribs. All of EcoSmartDesigns' handmade, pewter charm jewelry designs are proudly made in the USA.
