When looking at a diagram of an arm and a leg side-by-side, they appear very similar. Both originate from a triangular bone at the top, connect one singular bone to two bones in the middle, and have an appendage at the end. In the arm, the triangular bone is the scapula/collarbone, the single bone is the humorous and it connects to the radius and ulna. The appendage at the end of the arm, of course, is the hand. Due to their similarities, it makes sense that the arm and leg were once the same structure. When humans began walking on two legs the arms changed function, but remained relatively the same in structure.
